Communication is the key

Communication is the act of giving, receiving, and sharing information. It is fundamental to the existence of humans. Communication plays a vital role in helping individuals find common ground in a mutually respectful manner. Communication is the key in every aspect of life, whether in person relationships or professional life.

Verbal communication is usually what we are most careful with but the sheer power of non-verbal communication shouldn’t be underestimated. We are constantly delivering messages through non-verbal cues such as movements, gestures, expressions, etc. And these determine how we make people feel and what we end up conveying to them, even more than the words we speak. When we don’t pay attention to our non-verbal cues, communication can often break down or even turn toxic.

The Bible talks about the importance of our words being in line with what is in our hearts. When these two things become misaligned, our communication can end up becoming unhealthy, especially towards those closest to us. We may be saying the right things, but often our non-verbal communication ends up betraying the disconnect that our words have with our hearts. So let all our communication flow out of an honest and sincere love, the kind that God can pour into our hearts.

  1. A key and very import thought is comminicated today. Our words can build life and it can also destroy it and are capable of bringing all sorts of chaos in life. The effect it throws is compared with devouring fire by Apostle James (3:6) ” And the tongue is a fire” and thus it can destroy not only the individuals but it can consume families, congregations, societies and countries too. Proverbs 18:21 says” Death and life are in the power of the tongue”. Good and effective words will come out of transformed hearts. Jesus said in Luke 6:45 ” out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks”. We need to be cautious in using our words and it should not quench others. For the same, St Pauls gives us a recipe in Colossians 4:6 ” Let your speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt”. We are not called to communicate all the Truths we know to all. At the same time we are not allowed to hide the Truths which are profitable for others for their preparation for eternity. Apostle Paul tells to the Elders at Ephesus in Acts 20:20 ” I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you”. Finally, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him”(Colossians 3:17). God Bless.
