Boxing day celebrations are held across the world and predominantly in the Common Wealth countries. This is part of the Christmas holidays. In most recent years this day is quite prominent for sporting events across the western world. While the officially recorded date is 1871, this was widely practiced during the 1830s. The custom of gift boxing is traced back to Samuel Pepy’s diary entry for 19th December 1663. On this day, the Lords & the Masters (elite group) gifted gifts in wrapped boxes to their workers. The gifts were a symbol of gratitude from the masters to their helpers who worked hard throughout the year. These gifts were taken back to their families and unboxed on this day. Quite unique to their faith, Christians also have something similar. Christians consider Lord Jesus as their master who gifted them with eternal life.
