A Letter to your Younger Self

Dear Younger Me, When I sit back and think about the past years, I cannot help but wonder how my past experiences, choices, and lessons learned will shape this year ahead. It’s a humbling thought—how every step we take, every moment we live, becomes part of the foundation for what’s to come. I can offer you some wisdom that might make the journey a bit smoother – a little encouragement for a faith-filled year ahead.

God Sees You

First, let me tell you this: There will be moments when you doubt things, when the storms of life seem too big, and you wonder if God sees you. You’ll ask why He allows certain things to happen or why some prayers seem to go unanswered. But trust me, God is always working, even when you can’t see it. Every tear you cry, every unanswered question, every heartbreak—it’s all part of His plan to shape you into the person He created you to be. Lean into Him, even when it’s hard, because His grace is sufficient.

God Forgives You

You’re going to make mistakes. There will be moments when you fail, fall short, or stray from what you know is right. But don’t let shame hold you captive. God’s forgiveness is greater than your mistakes. When you stumble, don’t run away from Him. Instead, run toward Him. The lessons you learn from your failures will help you grow and strengthen your faith. Take encouragement from these moments to build a faith-filled life.

God gives you Peace

Life won’t always go according to your plans, and that’s okay. God’s plans are so much greater than anything you can imagine. Trust in His timing, even when it doesn’t make sense. The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” When you surrender your plans to Him, you’ll find peace that surpasses all understanding.

Find your Identity in God

You’ll be tempted to compare yourself to others. You’ll look at their lives, their achievements, and their relationships, and wonder if you measure up. Don’t let comparison steal your joy. God made you unique, with gifts and talents that only you possess. Your worth isn’t found in what you do, how you look, or what others think of you—it’s found in who you are in Him. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and your identity is secure in Him.

Trust in God

Life will bring its share of pain. You’ll face loss, disappointment, and moments when it feels like your heart can’t take any more. But remember, God is near to the broken-hearted. He will carry you through the valleys and give you strength when you feel like giving up. The Bible reminds us that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Even in the darkest moments, trust that He is working for your good.

God gives you True Joy

You’ll also experience incredible joy—moments of laughter, love, and beauty that will remind you of how good God is. Don’t take these moments for granted. Thank Him for every blessing, big or small. Cultivate a heart of gratitude, and you’ll find that joy is not dependent on your circumstances but on your relationship with Him.

Relationships Matter

As you grow older, you’ll realize that relationships are one of the most valuable parts of life. Treasure the people God places along life’s journey—your family, friends, and mentors. Love them well, forgive quickly, and never be afraid to admit when you’re wrong. Surround yourself with people who encourage your faith and hold you accountable. Community is a gift from God.

Your Life has a Purpose!

Finally, I want you to know that your life has a purpose. God has a plan for you, and He will use you in ways you can’t even imagine right now. Don’t be afraid to step out in faith, even when it feels scary or uncertain.

With the year just around a month old now, remember this: everything you’ve experienced so far—every joy, every pain, every triumph, and every failure—has prepared you for what’s ahead. The past isn’t just a collection of memories; it’s a foundation for the future God is building. Trust Him to use every moment to craft something beautiful in your life.
