Humans Cultivate Habits, Habits Shape the Human

Here is a small portion of a poem by Russell Kelfer:

“You are who you are for a reason
You’re part of an intricate plan
You’re precious and perfect unique design,
Called God’s special woman or man.”

These lines remind us of the very important truth that each of us is unique, thoughtfully and intimately crafted for a very unique purpose.

Then why should you waste your time trying to be like someone you met?

Don’t ever try to change yourself to fit into a crowd.

The Bible says, “We are the clay and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.” Just as a potter puts much thought into the purpose behind every pot or utensil he crafts, God has an ultimate purpose for everything he creates. And he puts a lot of careful thought behind creating each one of us.

You, the one reading this, have your own unique set of skills, attitudes, styles, and abilities. If you are not ready to identify and use these gifts bestowed upon you, they will be wasted. Remember, true excellence doesn’t come by being the best according to some external standard. True excellence comes by making the best use of the unique potential that God has lovingly placed within you.

It is the humans who cultivate habits, and it is the habits that shape the human. So be the best version of yourself.
