Lessons from Seasons of Life

Life has its way of teaching us valuable lessons through its different seasons. It guides us through its course by providing little nudges and experiences to help us be on the right track. The past year 2024 may have been tough for some. For others it would have been a year where something new was started. For the rest it would have been a roller coaster year with lots of ups and downs. Let me describe my year 2024 to you.

The start of the year 2024 was pretty scary and unpredictable for me. I wasn’t sure if I would manage to navigate through my master’s degree and later get registered in an unknown country and complete the next steps. Well, as I write this article at the end of the year 2024, I can confidently say that God delivered me and guided me through His amazing favor.

Lessons from a Tree

I have a backyard with plants and trees, where I like to spend my evenings admiring the sunset sky. I used to observe a tree in my backyard from the beginning of the year 2024. The tree just had bare branches without any leaves and it looked withered. Well, after a few months in spring, I could see a flush of new leaves appearing on it. Gradually, in the next few months, the tree blossomed and it was filled with little flowers and later the flowers turned into fruits. As I watched this process, I realized the value of change and how different seasons impacted the tree’s appearance but were necessary for its longevity.

The most important lesson I took from this phenomenon was, no matter how hard the tree tried to bear fruit in winter, it could not, because it was not the right time. There will be similar seasons in our life. There are many lessons we can learn from different seasons of life if we’re willing to learn and grow. For me, the year 2024, turned out to be a season of waiting, resting, and gradually harvesting. It taught me how God was with me through all the twists and turns of my life.

We sometimes might think that we are just flowing through life but little do we know that the journey is all set and predestined and we are moulded through it. Each season in our lives is there for a purpose and we cannot skip a season just because it‘s boring or painful. Life keeps surprising us each year by unlocking a new version of ourselves and showing us God’s hand in everything we do.

Lessons from different Seasons of Life

In the year 2024, I had some tough moments in my life. I was shattered many times, and I had bouts of depression and trauma which I could not share with anyone. Despite all of this, I witnessed God’s hand through my tears and pain. I asked God for a season of favor in the last couple of months of the year 2024. My prayer was more of asking God in faith to align my future to His will. Each experience taught me that God does not allow His children to perish but delivers them from all the dangers. I struggled for months without a job and managing my finances was like threading a needle. Being alone without friends and family in another country was already very tough for me. And on top of that, to keep your calm while things are falling apart is even more tougher.

I learnt the hard way to fall on my knees, look to God and lean on Him entirely. I saw God’s favor and hand in getting my visa, a house, registration, and a job. These lessons from different seasons of life mould us to become better human beings and it prepares us for His Kingdom.

Looking ahead with Hope

Indeed, the year 2024 was full of surprises with mixed memories. I just can’t wait to see what this new year 2025 is going to look like – getting a car, getting better at my new job, and the next steps of my life? An upgraded version of me is already on it’s way. I am waiting to witness few surprises in me and looking forward to see the faith grow in me through each season of my life.

As we have stepped into a new year, let us take a moment to reflect on the lessons from our own seasons of life. Trust in God’s timing, embrace the challenges, and look forward to the surprises He has in store.

We don’t know what the next hour brings, but God can be trusted because we’ve glimpsed the end of the story. – Tish Harrison
