Little things matter

More often than not, we delight in little things – a sweater straight from the dryer on a chilly day, a new recipe that came off perfectly, a hand-in-hand walk with your mother, when she lovingly strokes your hair. Every little thing adds to the beauty of the big thing called ‘life’.

However, we often tend to focus more on big baskets and huge expectations. Instead of hankering after them, try relishing the little things that would add to your sweetest memories. We keep avoiding what seems to us the least significant matter, which may eventually turn out to be the most significant. While we worry about how fast we grow, God is concerned about how strong we grow, and that usually starts with the ‘little’ steps. The Bible says – ‘ He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much, and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much’. Faithfulness or reliability is one of the most important qualities that we all look for in those we associate with, then why not ourselves be faithful in the little things?

Start with the small things, they make a difference. Over the years, all of us have probably stumbled many times, and accumulated many regrets by ignoring the sheer importance of the little things, while we fixate on ‘big’ goals. Let’s learn to cherish the small joys enjoyed with the people in our lives. Let’s strive this year to develop a passion to give our best in the small details and steps, before we focus on larger visions.
