Look Around

We, the selfie generation, tend to ‘fix’ our eyes on ourselves. The unfortunate reality is that most of our disappointments arise from our obsessive self-love. It may be important to change our perspective in order to ‘look around’. Looking around can mean reaching out to people. Being fixated only on ourselves diminishes our value as human beings. Instead, ‘look around’ to experience what life is really about. Such an outward-looking perspective will enlarge our way of thinking and help us develop a passionate hand/heart to reach out to those on the margins.

Every human being needs to be able look around for those in need. ‘Looking around’ also helps us realise us how blessed we are and the need to reach out to people who seek a helping hand. The Bible says “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Let’s together try to develop a heart which is compassionate and looks out for others.
