Replenish

Those of us who have gone for long drives know that sometimes we’ve to stop our vehicles just to get that “full tank”. Have you ever wondered if there are any such pit stops we can take in life, in order to refill our energy tanks?

Too often today, we hear stories of burnout, suicides, divorces – stories of people quitting on life or relationships when the going gets tough. Sometimes in the rat-race of life, we fail to realise that we, as human beings, need to replenish energy not only in our vehicles, but in our lives and relationships too.

Sometimes you might try to bury this need to replenish in a peg of alcohol, a joint of weed, or whatever else it is that gives you a momentary escape. All these can give you a good feeling or a ‘high’ but sadly it is temporary. Once the effect wears off, it can often feel like you’ve come crashing back down into the same misery you tried to escape and most times this misery would seem to have intensified. Is there something which doesn’t just leave you with a hangover, but can instead refresh and replenish your spirit, empowering you to run the long race of life with renewed strength and endurance?

Jesus said, ”Whoever drinks the water that I will give him, will never be thirsty. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” These lines promise that Jesus can not only replenish us, but also make us a source of such renewing energy and life to those around us. So next weekend instead of heading to the pub to escape from the exhaustion, would you consider replenishing your tired spirit in Christ? He cares deeply for you.
