Children’s day is celebrated every year on 14th of November in India. It’s done in remembrance of the 1st Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly called by the children as “Chacha Nehru”, to celebrate his love and affection towards children. When we look around, children teach us a lot just by being their playful, goofy selves. The lessons from children are immensely invaluable.
“A child can teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires.” ~ Paulo Coelho
As we celebrate Children today, let’s see what are the key lessons from children that we all can receive.
Love and the lack of Prejudice
Children love each other without looking into each other’s status, background, caste or creed. They teach us to accept each other more openly and be kind-hearted.
Resilience
We see children play around with each other, where one loses and the other wins. But inspite of the results, they are back up with all the more energy the next time to play again. This teaches us resilience in the face of failures. So when life throws at you lemons, you learn to make a lemonade out of it.
Forgiveness and empathy
Children often fight with each other, and when they are fight all over each other. But after a few minutes, you’ll see them sitting together and playing with each other like nothing happened. By this they teach us to not keep grudges and be bitter against each other. But to forgive quickly and to move on.
Live with a positive attitude
Children are usually very easy going and lively. With no fear of the future and living in the present. They teach us not to worry about our future, and live in the present. Appreciating the little things in life
Curiosity and eagerness to learn things
You would see children often asking “why”, they teach us to never loose the excitement or wonder we have towards life. Let’s learn to always look at life with the same excitement a child who is first time taking a flight would have, while looking through the window seat. Let’s learn to see the world through their eyes and never loose the the awe towards it.
