Due Diligence

From preparing for an interview to running a genetic test in forensics, from preparing food for a five year old to doing the same for an elderly person, every process needs to be executed with caution in order to avoid costly errors. This is what we call due diligence.

We all use the word ‘diligence’ very often; it is defined as persistence or hard work. Diligence is considered to be one of the seven heavenly virtues . It is the effort we put towards balanced and holistic development in all dimensions of our lives. The last words of Buddha were, “Strive on with dilligence.” In Hinduism, diligence is seen as one of the characteristics essential for success. When one is a follower of Jesus, diligence is understood as the effort to do one’s part well while trusting in God, because no one knows what’s waiting for us. Having faith in God is the foremost thing. Faith is when we don’t see it but believe that it’s going to happen. This contributes to one’s spiritual growth.

Diligence also means to be consistent. The Bible talks about diligence saying, “the plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance but everyone who is hasty comes to poverty.”
The Bible also speaks about how God makes our pains and difficulties his own if we are willing to share them with him. God himself says, “For I the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, fear not I am the one who helps you.”

Therefore, God himself is more concerned for you than you are for yourself. He is in control and he would never want his children to suffer. He is always there to help. The question here is this – are you willing to submit and put your trust in him?
