The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the syllabus for the new academic year 2021-22 for classes 9 to 12. While the syllabus for 2020-21 was reduced by about 30 per cent due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, CBSE has not made any reduction in the syllabus this time. The new academic session begins from April.
Detailed curriculum for classes 9 to 12 is now available through the website, cbseacademic.nic.in http://cbseacademic.nic.in.
It should be noted that the document is a combined curriculum and only the syllabus included under Class 10 and 12 would be applicable for the CBSE Board Exams 2022.
Earlier, CBSE had revised the dates for classes 10 and 12 board exams. The board exams are scheduled to be held from May 4 to June 1. The dates for the class 12 physics paper and applied physics are postponed from May 13 to June 1. Likewise, the mathematics paper for class 10 will be held on June 2 instead of May 21 as per the revised date list, which includes various other subjects.
Many schools are gearing for the new academic session from April 1, 2021. The Delhi Government also announced the commencement of new academic year from April 1. However, it can be widely seen that some schools are still in the middle of their final examinations and are planning to begin next academic year soon.
Last academic year, CBSE had completely excluded chapters like Federalism, Citizenship, Nationalism, and Secularism from Class 11 political science curriculum and Security in the Contemporary World, Environment and Natural Resources, Social and New Social Movements in India, and Regional Aspirations from class 12 political science curricula.
The omission of these topics caused a lot of backlash from students and parents alike, who pointed out that these chapters are necessary for development and knowledge. However this time, CBSE has restored all these topics, and all other topics omitted from different subjects, for the academic year 2021-22.
