We know that everything on this earth that functions needs a power source. Even our body needs the energy to perform. It derives this energy from the food we eat. But, as a human being, we are not just the body. Instead, we are spirit, soul and body co-existing together. We feed our minds with all sorts of things happening around us – all that we listen, watch, read and so on – and that in turn reflects in our thoughts. However, feeding the spirit is largely neglected by many of us.
Prayer is what connects us with God. Prayer can comfort us in the darkest of times, giving us a sense of trust and renewed hope every day. It is through prayer that we can feed our spirit. Iyanla Vanzant, an American author, writes “In my deepest, darkest moments, what really got me through was a prayer. Sometimes my prayer was ‘Help me.’ Sometimes my prayer was ‘Thank you.’ What I’ve discovered is that intimate connection and communication with my creator will always get me through because I know my support, my help, is just a prayer away.”
Prayer is definitely a power source for our spirit and life; without feeding our spirit, we cannot be completely content with our life. So, let us inculcate a habit of daily prayer to charge our spirit and in turn re-energize our life every day.
